The Enterprise Challenge Contract Signing Ceremony

The Enterprise Challenge (TEC) contract signing ceremony between Aromatrix Pte Ltd and The Ministry of the Environment was held on the 22nd of September 2000. The event was held at the ENV building. Aromatrix is one of the three companies that were awarded the TEC award earlier in May this year. Aromatrix's proposal of using bacteria to remove odorous gas from sewage treatment plant has been selected from among 128 proposals submitted. Currently, the pungent sewage gas from sewage treatment plant is treated with a combination of chemicals and activated carbon. The process is dangerous and more costly as compared to using biological scrubber. The use of this biotechnology is more efficient and could save up to $81 million over 20 years. Under the TEC contract, Aromatrix will be awarded a total of $250,000 over a year to conduct field trial of the bioscrubber technology at the Kranji Water Treatment Plant.
